As the 2009 runs this year the runways of New York and London present their spring's hottest collection, and this designer clothes are very comfortable to watch and wear. Colors are light for the positive energy to bring in from prints, color, jackets, jumpsuits and short suits. Ralph Lauren I think they will be following the trend.

Very big this year with colorful polka-dots, tropical & exotic prints and the like.

Color

Citrusy colors. Also, a lot of neutral colors will be popping up, with black out of the picture. Metallic liquid silver and gold are also hot this season in gowns and dresses.

Jackets

Check out the new look for vest jackets as well - you will see a lot of those this spring.
Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits are also making a comeback, although not always welcome, you can pick and choose from jumpsuits in slinky jersey as well as metallics.

Short Suits

Sexy hotpants styles with matching jackets were all the rage on the runways.

Specs fashion

Specs are part of the lifestyle of fashion being paired with their designer clothes, yet many is hoping to avoid the style stigma of being called "four eyes." But thanks to fashion editors, Brooklyn hipsters and celebrities seeking gravitas, looking like Buddy Holly has become fabulously fashionable in 2009. "A lot of women and men have worn contacts for so long and haven't bought glasses, but they're back buying glasses in droves," says Jordan Silver, co-owner of Silver Lining Opticians on Soho's Thompson Street.

Red carpets are awash in A-listers wearing heavy glasses. Above, from left: Refinery29.com's Piera Gelardi; actress Amy Sedaris; and Jay-Z. Below, clockwise from top left: Kimball Hastings, director of celebrity dressing at Ralph Lauren; Vogue features associate Stephanie LaCava; Scarlett Johansson; Chloë Sevigny; and Teen Vogue's senior fashion market editor Joanna Hillman.

Retro

While Tom Cruise (far left) and his Risky Business Wayfarers fueled the trend for heavy frames, the latest style is this '50s-inspired Clubmaster shape.
Unusual Details

"Plastic frames will still dominate the market in 2009, but subtle design details like graphics or colors and finishing treatments are differentiating the progressive from the mundane," explains Jordan Silver of Silver Lining.
Bright Colors

"Men who have worn tortoiseshell and black for years are sticking with traditional shapes but adding color," says Jordan of these blue frames.

Architectural Fashion

Fashion Architecture Taste or FAT is an art-architecture collaborative from the Netherlands that works out of London, England. They have been described as "very young" and "very controversial" and have a cult following that has "brought work in the ultra-cool Netherlands," success on the international lecture and exhibition circuit, and an expanding
body of completed work. Sean Griffiths, Charles Holland and Sam Jacob are the main members of the group. Summary from Wikipedia.

History

The group formed in London in the 1990s and challenged the "orthodoxy of Modernist good taste", first with experimentalism in their Anti-Oedipal House (1993) that separated children and parents, and then at the 1995 Venice Biennale by distributing art from vending machines. They did a similar effort later in London's Carnaby Street on shopping bags (1999), and converted an Amsterdam church into the Kessels Kramer Advertising Office in 1998 with big
playground furniture, a fort, fake diving board, and lifeguard shack.

The group operated on a limited budget with their early projects and acts as a collective that is anti-hierarchical.They have been influenced by Robert Venturi, Situationists, Mannerism, the Arts and Crafts movement, Archigram, and Jeff Koons. They "steal copy, collage and make overt references to all kinds of high and low architecture; reusing, rescaling, recolouring; remaking their sources in the wrong materials," with their first projects being redesigns of interiors such as the Brunel Rooms nightclub in Swindon (1995) where a running tack, swimming pool, garden shed and lounge were added. One of Fat's director's, Sean Griffiths, built a house in baby blue with cutout wall shapes and artful references to Edwin Lutyens, Adolf Loos, and Robert Venturi. Summary from Wikipedia.

What is Architectural Fashion?
  • Fabrics as a building materials, creating both hard and round lines for designer clothes.
  • Oversize proportions, exaggerated angles and swooshy layers.
  • Strong silhouettes with emphasis on structure, shape and form.
  • Major pleats, folds, pinning, layering, surface texture and three-dimensional designs.

The New Guard

  • The 27-year-old avant-garde designer Gareth Pugh presented a collection of armorlike outfits “a modern warrior,” he called the aesthetic — bringing engineered clothing to new heights.
  • The current Ferré designers, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, are carrying the label’s lineage into the future, with “the introduction of new, more fluid fabrics that enable the hard architectural shapes to become softer and more feminine.”
  • The Swedish designer Sandra Backlund doesn’t look at architecture for direct inspiration, but admits, “I am very fascinated by all the ways you can highlight, distort and transform the natural silhouette with clothes and accessories.” Yet Ralph Lauren doesn't have any collection of the clothing line.

Lego Obamas Inauguration Day

As the Inauguration has ended for the Lego company has started its part as they make a Lego Obamas Inauguration Day fashion make over, from the designer clothes they wearing up to the position where they are standing, major characters are in the list yet some changed their appearance and style. It looks very patriotic by doing this, for the Legoland California.

For full article read below:

Legoland California updated the recently unveiled presidential inauguration scene at the Carlsbad theme park to more closely resemble the wardrobes worn by First Lady Michelle Obama and first daughters Malia and Sasha.

Lego Michelle, who wore a red dress at the Capitol in Miniland USA before the inauguration, has changed into a yellow ensemble (no “lemon grass” Lego bricks were available).

The Lego first daughters switched from patriotic colors to their inauguration day finery — Malia in a periwinkle coat and Sasha in a pink jacket with orange scarf.

Even singer Aretha Franklin got a Lego makeover — donning her now familiar gray bow hat and matching outfit (although she looks like a killer fembot to me).

Lego Barack Obama’s dark suit and red tie remain unchanged. Here’s hoping Lego Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. recites the correct oath of office at the Legobama inauguration.
